​Selame is a sought after clinician for high school and collegiate a cappella groups. Passionate about empowering others, Selame believes that every voice has a story to tell. Her innovative teaching methods combine vocal technique, science and performance strategies, tailored to each individual’s unique sound and goals. 

 

In addition to her private lessons, she has led workshops and masterclasses nationally, inspiring countless aspiring singers and vocal percussionists to build their confidence and stage presence.

 

Selame fosters an inclusive environment where each artist feels valued and inspired to push past their comfort zones.

Born and raised in America’s Mitten, Selame Scarlett is a vocalist, vocal percussionist and a cappella clinician based in Los Angeles, California. A proud double graduate of Michigan State University, she received her B.S. in Microbiology & Microbial Genetics and her M.S. in Healthcare Management.  In addition to being a full time STEMinist, she was the music director, arranger, and vocal percussionist for the mixed group, Capital Green A Cappella. P

 

ost collegiate, she served as a percussionist and vocalist for the CARA-winning, all-female sextet, Lady Jaye, and the all-female gospel powerhouse group, Traces, which was featured on Season 5 of NBC's “The Sing-Off.” And for 9 summers, she was an instructor and counselor at A Cappella Academy, a Los Angeles-based vocal camp for young adults (ages 13 to 17). ​
